Which O2 Bung Is Right for Your Job?
When it comes to stainless steel O2 sensor bungs, there are three common types I typically use: lipped, copped, and standard. While a lot of the choice comes down to preference, there are some real use cases that make one style better than another, depending on your project.

Lipped O2 Bung – Great all-around option, especially for custom exhausts or downpipes. The lip helps with fitment and sealing.

Copped O2 Bung – Best when you want to avoid anything protruding into the exhaust flow, since the inside sits flush. Ideal for custom builds where smooth flow is a priority.
Standard O2 Bung – The most versatile. If your bung needs to sit at an angle (like in a production part), the standard style is usually the safest choice. A lipped bung can also work in a pinch, but a copped bung doesn’t fit angled installs well.

Quick tip: For custom one-off builds, lipped or copped bungs usually work without issue. For manufacturing or angled applications, stick with standard (or lipped if necessary).
